For a devotee of IT, the term cloud computing needs no introduction.. It is nothing but hosting of software and hardware on a remote server which is at client PC’s disposal over the Internet, usually through a subscription-based service. Thereby making the software and hardware installation, and update, upgrade, repair and maintenance thereof, and data security and more redundant, and empowering businesses to focus more on their business strategies. Leveraging the improved availability, application scalability and lower overall costs, businesses can reduce their operational costs and enhance business return on investment. . Considering the benefits of cloud computing, businesses are paying subtle attention towards its adoption. As per the analysis done by Gartner, Inc., cloud computing would be a dominating term in the IT industry by 2016. However, brainstorming and deeper business insights would be required to choose from the available cloud models, viz., private, public and hybrid. Questioning the popularity of a particular cloud model amidst 823 business IT respondents, TechTarget Inc. found that forty percent of respondents primarily use public cloud, 38% primarily use hybrid, and 22% primarily use a private cloud model. However, a gradual drift towards more hybrid adoption was noticed after six months. Well, this complete picture reflects the future of IT industry which is going to be stuffed with nothing but cloud computing.
Cloud computing is used to offer accessible and flexible solutions to business enterprises using Internet technologies. The three aspects, including virtualization, service orientation and Internet, are converged to get or deliver IT services without putting stress on the traditional software and hardware licensing models. By making applications and technology easily accessible, cloud computing is proving its existence in each and every field of Information Technology.
Role in disaster Recovery
Disasters are unpredictable. Thus, it is important to have systems that are reliable and robust. Cloud computing is the robust technology that can accommodate as much data as you want. So, in case of data loss you can directly take help from cloud computing by recovering your data from there. There is no need to lose the proprietary data as cloud computing is doing its job.
Very sooner, cloud security systems are going to be more secure as they will start validating identities using a “centralized trust.” Obviously, it is the better form of security than the current ones. This will be the huge drift for cloud computing systems.
Hybrid Cloud computing for increased efficiency
As we have already mentioned above, hybrid cloud computing is going to be the future of cloud computing as it increases efficiency by optimizing performance of the business process. Accessing private cloud as well as public cloud will enhance the internal infrastructure of every business enterprise.
Talking about the future of cloud computing, it is bright and even brighter with each passing day. And, these are just few expected trends but its future is wide to help companies in maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
